Goodnight little puss.
Place your hands upon your lap.
And imagine he is sitting there.
For though you said 'Goodbye' today.
He knew you loved and cared.
So very often when we must part.
With creatures we have loved so much.
We feel deep down within our hearts.
And yearn for their soft touch.
Yet,it was right to let him end his days.
And join all cats way up above.
For though he is not with you anymore.
He is in your heart with love.
Copyright Annemari (C) 18th June 2010.The following two poems were written for a friend who's beloved cat had wandered off.
The amazing thing is that not long after I wrote the first poem, the cat came home.
A Prayer for Toto
Each day that goes by,open your heart with hope.
For hope is the strength, that guides you to cope.
Never give up. Keep your will strong.
To help your dear pet find where she belongs.
She may just have wandered, but strong she will be,
As the instincts life gave her surface naturally.
Each night say your prayers, quiet and alone,
Pray God keeps Toto safe and sends her back home.
Regard not each day as another to fear.
But another step closer, to when she is near.
Her life once so sweet, serene and just so,
Will egg her to return as your beloved cat,Toto.
Come on Toto, time to come home.

The Wanderer Returns.
A little wanderer has returned and brought joy to her family.
No-one knows just where she's has been,
That is known only unto she.
Her head held high and up went her tail,
She came back into her house,
With all the pomp a cat could have,as if capturing a mouse.
Again her home is filled with joy,now this fluffy pet is home.
Yet there will be some anxious feelings ,in case again she roams
With tummy full, and lots of fuss, now settled on Mum's lap.
She curling up to go to sleep and have a well earned nap.
Mum is on her keyboard, telling all of us.
That Toto has returned back home, but can't understand the fuss.

Out of the Blue
All of a sudden, I've heard about a place.
That's special for pets who have died.
This haven is called 'Rainbow Bridge'
And time is their only guide.
Up hills, down dales, over meadows you see.
All the pets they are playing, together happily.
Food and Water a plenty, with the sun on their back,
Our beloved pets bide comfortably, nothing do they lack.
Our pets are strong and lively once more,
No injury or illness in sight.
Just contentment and happiness,reign within,
Like we remember through dreams in the night.
They are running and playing together,
Yet there is something that's just not quite right
Their loved ones they have left behind,
Are no longer within their sight.
Then, all of a sudden, one will stop.
The eyes are fixed with intent.
The body it quivers from head to foot,
With uncertaincy and excitement.
Then with a jog and into a run,
They fly over the lush velvet grass.
The eyes that were faded are bright once again,
As the legs gather speed and run fast.
For you have been spotted as you make your way in,
Your pet's days of waiting are over.
You cling to each other, never to be parted again.
And roll together in the deep clover.
Your hands caress the top of it's head.
Happy kisses rain upon your face.
Each stare at each other with trusting eyes,
As you both cross 'Rainbow Bridge' to your final resting place.
In memory of Mrs H's 'Cokie' the cat, who died June 2nd 2009
and
With thanks to 'Sapphire' for the lovely story of Rainbow Bridge.
