CROSSROADS

Crossroads

I look out of the window as you drive your car away.
No more to see a backward glance, a smile or a wave.
For your heart is with another,so you told me yesterday,
And though I pleaded with all my heart, you packed your things today.
My head is pounding with the pain, my mouth is dry with fear.
Of losing the one that I have loved and always held so dear.
I can't believe we're over, I can't believe we're through,
For I have always loved you, to you I have stayed true.

My resolve it cracks as I turn away,towards this empty room.
The sun has gone behind the clouds, which only adds to all the gloom.
Tears fall silently down my cheeks, my eyes begin to sting.
I gaze at the gold band that you once gave me, and kiss my wedding ring.
I wish you well, sweetheart,for you will always be my love.
Those years that have gone by, I'll give thanks to God above.
Now you are with another, I am at the crossroads of my life.
For I will always be a mother, yet, no more to be your wife.
